The Residence

A 1930s colonial bungalow with an English garden, a working kitchen and afternoons that ask nothing of you.

Built in the 1930s and kept largely as it was, Rompin House is a cottage in the old hill-station sense: low ceilings warmed by a fire, sash windows onto a garden, and a kitchen that runs on what was picked that morning.

Fraser's Hill has always been a place people came to slow down. The house takes that seriously. There is no programme to keep up with — only tea at the right hour, a chef who cooks close to the garden, and a long evening ahead of you.
